Dr. Allen Bice

Veterinarian

I grew up around a lot of animals. Some pets, some livestock, and some who filled both roles. I graduated from Colorado State with a degree in Veterinary medicine in 1988 and went to work in Park City Utah in a busy two vet practice. After three years there I decided to change my career dramatically and joined the Army Veterinary Corps where I served for the next five years.

I loved the army and that experience provided an opportunity to do things with my degree that would not have been available anywhere else. I was happy there, but I longed to get back to Hurricane, where my heart has always been, and to a more traditional veterinary practice. I opened "The Desert Vet" in 1995. The name is one that I moonlighted under in Saudi Arabia while in the army.

I am convinced that serving others is the key to a full and happy life. Being a small animal veterinarian provides me an opportunity to serve people and their pets in a vital and important way. I am honored to be entrusted to serve the people of this great community and their pets. My goal is to match the medical care for each of my patients to their unique situation and needs.

Veterinary Technician

I moved to Southern Utah from Las Vegas in 1995 with my husband, two daughters, three dogs and two cats. Before that, I lived on a small farm in Michigan and knew then that I wanted to work with animals.

I graduated from two years of veterinary technician school in Northern California after high school. I have worked in several animal hospitals and have taken great experiences from each one. I have enjoyed learning, as well as sharing, many things with Dr. Bice and the other staff members at The Desert Vet.

I love having the chance to educate pet owners about the importance of health care and always hope that I can make a difference in the lives of my patients and their owners.

Veterinary Technician

I grew up in Southern Utah on a family farm, so I have always been interested in animals! I started as a volunteer and the staff saw that I loved what I was doing. I was soon hired. After four years, I still enjoy learning something new every day and taking care of pre and post operation patients.

I love meeting new people so getting to know our clients and their pets is fun for me. I love sharing their stories with my family and using what I've learned here to take care of my own three dogs and one cat.

CC

Clinic Cat

CC is our wonderful three legged clinic cat. He was found near Dr. Bice's house with a crushed leg. We could not find his owner and our only options were to amputate his leg or euthanize him.

CC loves to curl up on our office chairs, cuddle with all the employees, climb into purses, and play in boxes!

Receptionist/Tech

I grew up on a farm in Riverton, Utah. I got my first horse at 2 years old and a love for all animals was born. I have been working with animals in various capacities most of my adult life. I admit that I do have too many pets at home...according to my husband. We have a daughter and 3 sons and 3 grandchildren (that outrank these pets...usually 😉). I have been a patron of The Desert Vet for too many years to remember and am now very excited to be working here. I love helping pets and people while working with the knowledgeable vets and fun staff...it doesn't get much better than this. + Read more

Amanda

Groomer

I'm Amanda and I am super excited to be working for Dr. Bice again! I've always had a lot of pets and I grew up outside of Hurricane. Through an internship in high school, I was able to start my professional animal career and have never looked back.

I have an amazing husband and 2 wonderful boys. We also have a small zoo: 4 dogs, multiple cats, fish, chickens, turkeys, and a clydesdale named Smooches. To say I have rubbed off on my boys (all 3), is an understatement.

I have been grooming for 6 years. I love helping and educating owners. I love working with dogs and helping them to enjoy their grooming experience. I love teaching owners how to brush and keep their dogs more manageable between grooms. I love to see the transformations from before to after. I can't wait to meet you and your 4 legged friends.

Jackie

Groomer

Hi everyone... I am Jackie and I have been grooming for 3 years now. I'm excited to be part of The desert Vet grooming team! I grew up in the small town of Enterprise (not far from here). Ever since I was little I've always had a love for all animals. My first grooming experience was in FFA, when I learned how to shear sheep and knew then that I would work someway with animals.

I have been married for almost 6 years and we have 2 personal dogs. Our jobs brought us to Hurricane and we love it here. We enjoy hiking, swimming, and just being outside with our dogs who are our pride and joy. Axel is 3 and we adopted Petunia 3 years ago. They are my little "goof troop". My husband and I both enjoy competing in strongman events as well as lifting weights. I'm excited to see my grooming skills develop and grow even more with The desert Vet grooming team!

Cathy

office manager

I have been working at the desert vet now for 19 years. It's been amazing to see the growth from the little blue house to the clinic that we have been in for several years now. It's been fun to build relationships with the clients and their pets and watch them from birth to, sadly death. It's also been interesting watching our personal employees' families change and grow. Several of us now have grandchildren including me with 6 of the little darlings. We have also had our 4 legged families change. At this time, I have 3 dogs and 4 cats- some were left home by some of the 6 children when they moved out. I love going to conferences that Dr. Bice takes us to so that we are always learning new and wonderful things --- Best job ever!!! + Read more

Maria

I have lived in Southern Utah for 13 years and in Uruguay before that. I have had pets my entire life including dogs, cats, turtles, a hamster, anything with 4 legs. My new husband and I met Dr. Bice 4 years ago when we got our first dog and he became our vet and the office was a fun place to be. It took a little more than 3 years before I got to work here and learn the ins and outs of vet care. I love snuggling with all of the little cuties that come in and I really enjoy helping people communicate in Spanish. I feel helpful and fulfilled being a part of this team. + Read more
